School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

At Albion North Primary School, we are proud to use School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), an evidence-based school improvement approach that builds a positive, safe and supportive learning environment for all students. SWPBS focuses on explicitly teaching, modelling and reinforcing expected behaviours while providing targeted support for students who need additional help. This ensures that every student can experience success, both academically and socially, within an inclusive school community.

Our commitment to SWPBS reflects our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork. These values are showcased in the classroom, in the yard, and as part of our wider school community.

When SWPBS is implemented, teachers and students are able to focus more on meaningful learning and relationship building. At Albion North Primary School, students and staff benefit from:

    • Increased demonstration of respectful and positive behaviours
    • More time devoted to high-quality instruction and learning
    • Improved social, emotional and academic wellbeing
    • Stronger and more positive relationships between students and staff
    • A consistent and predictable school environment where expectations are clear
    • A greater sense of safety, belonging and pride in our school

Through SWPBS, Albion North Primary School is committed to creating a school culture where all students are supported to grow as confident, resilient and responsible learners.

Behaviour Matrix

Our Behaviour Matrix is a central part of our School Wide Positive Behaviour. It is displayed across the school so that expectations are visible and accessible to everyone. The matrix was built around our values of Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork. Under each value, the matrix clearly outlines what these behaviours look like in different areas of our school, including learning spaces, outdoor spaces, online spaces, transition, bathroom and at all times. These expectations are explicitly taught, modelled, and reinforced so that students understand what success looks like in all settings.

Acknowledgement System

At Albion North Primary School, we know that one of the most powerful parts of School Wide Positive Behaviour Support is recognising and celebrating when students demonstrate our school values. Our whole-school acknowledgement system is centred around Champion Chips. When staff see students meeting expectations in the classroom, in the yard, or in digital spaces, they are acknowledged with a Champion Chip. These acknowledgements are a way of reinforcing the positive behaviours we want to see every day. Students collect their Champion Chip cards and once they have saved enough, they can visit the Champion Store to redeem prizes of their choice.
