Prep Transition
At Albion North Primary School, all students enrolled to begin Prep/Foundation participate in a comprehensive six-month transition program during the year prior to starting school. Throughout Terms 3 and 4, pre-prep students attend weekly two-hour sessions with our dedicated Prep teacher.
These sessions introduce early literacy skills through our phonics and phonemic awareness program, Heggerty, alongside foundational numeracy concepts such as number recognition and counting. This thoughtfully designed program helps build students’ confidence, fosters a sense of belonging, and familiarises them with their new school environment.
By the time students commence Prep, they are already comfortable with the school setting, have formed early friendships with their peers, and have engaged in key literacy and numeracy learning, providing them with a strong foundation for success from day one.
